Something about my last AI keynote didn't go to plan Friend.
During my session at the Montana Society for CPAs Annual Conference a few weeks ago, I asked a question of the audience from the stage:
"How many of you have defined company values?"
I anticipated at least half the room would put their hands up, but in a way that said they'd seen the values posted on a wall but not actually used in practice.
About a third of the hands went up.
Interesting.
These people work at accounting firms and have to take classes to keep their licenses. Rule followers, they do things by the book. Not what I expected.
Then I asked: "How many of you have personal values?"
Hands from 75% of the room shot up.
Um, wow...
but I guess I should have expected that - these are disciplined, high integrity people.
I don't think I've ever been in front of an audience before where that many people had defined their personal values.
You may be asking yourself, "Why would she ask about values when she was talking about AI?"
Values are the ultimate context for AI to be a better tool. Values keep AI from giving you generic garbage.
